SNL S41 E5 Matthew McConaughey Parents Review

Looking for the funniest, clean sketches of this week’s Saturday Night Live episode?  Here’s our Parents Review with clips to watch with the kids in your life.

I was really looking forward to this episode.  Maybe all the Adele hype?  Yet it seemed to be another underwhelming episode.  There were several bright spots, but only one shareable sketch and an Adele performance. After the Thanksgiving break, SNL will return with Ryan Gosling and Leon Bridges. And later in December-Tina Fey and Amy Poehler!

3D Printer Man – Bio-Print challenges an audience to figure out which man (Beck Bennett, Taran Killam, Matthew McConaughey) is printed. Matthew’s walk is pretty good.

Adele: When We Were Young

A Thanksgiving Miracle – There’s only one thing that can keep a family (Beck Bennett, Jay Pharoah, Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, Matthew McConaughey, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer) from fighting at Thanksgiving: Adele. This sketch has been very well received, however, conversations about ISIS, transgender people and racial questions make this a strong caution.  I would not watch with young kids.

Monologue – Matthew McConaughey explains the origin of “alright, alright, alright.” Interesting, but a little self-indulgent.

Should You Chime in on This? – Contestants Connie (Aidy Bryant), Ned (Matthew McConaughey) and Tristan (Kyle Mooney) consider whether to weigh in on delicate topics on Should You Chime In on This?

Blues Shack – Howlin’ Bobby Wallace’s (Matthew McConaughey) lyrics prove too upbeat for a blues performance with Wailin’ Otis Elmore (Kenan Thompson).

Town Hall Meeting – Earl (Matthew McConaughey) doesn’t appreciate people who think they’re better than him (Taran Killam, Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, Bobby Moynihan, Beck Bennett) telling him what’s best for his town.

Star Wars Audition – J.J. Abrams shares The Force Awakens screen tests for Daisy Ridley and Sofia Vergara (Cecily Strong), John Boyega, Emma Stone, David Beckham (Taran Killam), Jon Hamm and more.

Right Side of the Bed – Buster Littles (Matthew McConaughey) shows Cory (Taran Killam) and Gracelynn Chisholm (Cecily Strong) how to prepare a turkey for Thanksgiving.

Happy Thankgiving!
